GNTDA Greater Accra Announces 2nd Regional Conference 2026 at El-Wak Sports Stadium

The Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA), Greater Accra Region, is set to hold its 2nd Greater Accra Regional Conference 2026, bringing attention to the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in creating decent jobs and empowering tailors, dressmakers and apprentices.

The conference will be held under the theme: “TVET Skills for Decent Jobs: Empowering Tailors, Dressmakers and Apprentices for a Brighter Future.”

According to the event announcement, the programme will feature two key activities: a Grand Float on 28th October 2026 and the Main Conference Durbar on 12th November 2026 at El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.

The main conference durbar is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

GNTDA to Promote TVET Skills and Decent Jobs

Technical and Vocational Education and Training equips people with practical knowledge and industry-related skills that can help them enter the world of work.

For tailors, dressmakers and fashion apprentices, vocational training provides an opportunity to develop expertise in garment construction, sewing, pattern drafting, finishing and other areas of fashion production.

However, completing an apprenticeship is only one step towards building a sustainable career. Graduates may also need access to equipment, business knowledge, startup capital, workspace and opportunities to reach customers.

The conference theme highlights the connection between practical skills development and decent work, emphasising the importance of helping trained individuals use their abilities to build sustainable livelihoods.

Grand Float Scheduled for 28th October

The first activity on the conference programme is the Grand Float, scheduled for 28th October 2026.

The float forms part of the activities leading up to the main conference durbar. It provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the conference and draw attention to the work of tailors, dressmakers and apprentices in Ghana’s fashion and garment sector.

Further details about the float route, starting point, and participating groups should be confirmed through the GNTDA Greater Accra Regional leadership.

Main Conference Durbar on 12th November

The main conference durbar will take place on 12th November 2026 at El-Wak Sports Stadium, Accra, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The gathering is expected to provide a platform for attention to vocational skills, professional development and the future of the fashion and garment industry.

For apprentices and established practitioners, the theme raises important questions about how technical training can lead to employment, business ownership and improved economic opportunities.

Further information about speakers, special guests, registration and other activities can be obtained from the event organisers.

Empowering Apprentices and Fashion Entrepreneurs

Ghana’s fashion industry depends on the skills and creativity of tailors, dressmakers, designers and other professionals who transform fabrics into clothing and finished products.

Apprenticeship training plays an important role in passing practical knowledge from experienced masters to new learners. Yet graduates also need opportunities to apply their skills after completing their training.

Access to sewing machines, workspace, startup capital, mentorship and business management skills can help young professionals establish themselves in the industry.

The conference theme therefore places vocational education at the centre of discussions about decent work, entrepreneurship and a brighter future for the next generation of fashion professionals.
